Business Development Manager (Haydock/NW)
UK, Field Sales, Permanent Full-Time Position (40 hours)
We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to join our growing new business sales team. While this is a national role, the primary focus will be on the North West region, driving business through our Haydock processing centre.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for identifying and securing new business opportunities, demonstrating a keen understanding of market trends and client needs. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the sales department, leveraging collective expertise to devise innovative strategies that maximize revenue and profit margins.

Main Purpose
- Responsible for the generation of new business as designated by the National Sales Manager in a defined geographically area.
- Working with other members of the Sales team to maximise revenue growth and profit margin.
- To introduce the Company’s products and services to potential customers through teams meetings, trade shows or personal visits within an agreed call cycle.
Responsibilities
- To identify, research, investigate and close new accounts throughout a set geographical area.
- To build pipeline of potential clients. Details Including expected spend levels and any competitor information to be recorded on relevant system.
- Work effectively within the sales team to maximise sales opportunities.
- To make qualified visits to prospective using effective route planning and time management.
- To manage new business accounts effectively and record all contact/information on relevant system.
- To provide customers with timely and relevant information about Spring's services.
- Proactively provide customers with accurate information, enabling them to access Spring's services at the earliest opportunity, with maximum ease.
- Present a professional image of the company to all at all times and develop and maintain relationship with prospective and existing customers.
- Develop and maintain effective relationship with other sales team members, other departments and management.
- Ensure all sales procedures are followed at all times
- Ensure customer agreements/tariffs are signed before trading begins, and that accurate rates have been communicated to the Finance Department.
- Ensure all corporate standards are met
What do you bring?
Skills & Experience:
- Proven sales experience and performance gained from within the logistics industry.
- Excellent knowledge of sales procedures & experience of CRM systems.
- Ability to lead generate and close new business.
- Excellent communicator both in person and through online meetings.
- Excellent knowledge of sales procedures.
- Holder of clean current driving licence in line with Car Policy.
- Strong Microsoft skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Good geographical knowledge.
- Self-starter.
- Strong team worker.
- Results oriented.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Ability to prioritise own work, and work without supervision.
- Diplomatic and resourceful.
- Good planning & organisational skills.
Educational Background:
- GCSEs: At least 5 GCSEs at grades A-C / 9-4*, including English and Maths.
